Inhibition of Acid Production from Oral Bacteria

چکیده
The inhibitory effect offluorapatite (FAP)-derivedfluoride upon resting cell suspensions of Streptococcus mutans incubated at pH 4.5 and 6.5 was studied using lactic acid production from 0.1% sucrose as an indicator offermentation activity. Cells incubated with FAP produced significantly less lactic acid than did cells incubated with hydroxyapatite (HAP). Addition of HAP to cell suspensions containing FAP reduced this inhibition, suggesting that dissolution of the FAP was necessary for inhibition. Incubation with low concentrations of NaF showed significant inhibition in cell suspensions incubated with

Biogenic synthesis and antimicrobial activity of Silver nanoparticle using exopolysaccharides from Lactic Acid bacteria
Nanotechnology provides the ability to engineer the properties of materials by controlling their size, and this has driven research toward a multitude of potential uses for nanomaterials. This study aimed at biosynthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) using exopolysaccharides (EPS) of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and the antimicrobial potential of the biosynthesized SNPs agai...

Background and Aim: Elimination of microorganisms and their byproducts from root canal system is one of important aims of root canal therapy. This object is gained by using of many chemomechanical techniques but with noncertain success. A new method is used of nonpathogenic bacteria for growth inhibition of pathogenic bacteria, Antibiosis, in root canal therapy. The aim of this study was in vitr...
متن کاملGROWTH INHIBITION OF PATHOGENS BY LACTIC ACID BACTERIA PRODUCING INHIBITORY SUBSTANCES
71 samples of milk and dairy products were collected from 18 cities throughout Iran. 93 strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were isolated and assayed against four opportunistic patho gens including E. coli, proteus and klebsiella as gram-negative and S. aureus as a gram-positive organism. All indicators (organisms) were hospital strains. Among isolated bacteria, lactobacilli (37 isolates)...

متن کاملInhibition by cocoa extracts of biosynthesis of extracellular polysaccharide by human oral bacteria.
Extracts of defatted cocoa inhibited the biosynthesis of extracellular polysaccharide by both cell-free and cell-associated streptococcal glucosyltransferases, but did not affect growth or acid production. Both water-insoluble and water-soluble polysaccharide syntheses were inhibited, and the net result was a shift away from adherence-supportive polysaccharide. Inhibition was non-competitive wi...
متن کاملInteractions between oral bacteria: inhibition of Streptococcus mutans bacteriocin production by Streptococcus gordonii.
Streptococcus mutans has been recognized as an important etiological agent in human dental caries. Some strains of S. mutans also produce bacteriocins. In this study, we sought to demonstrate that bacteriocin production by S. mutans strains GS5 and BM71 was mediated by quorum sensing, which is dependent on a competence-stimulating peptide (CSP) signaling system encoded by the com genes. We also...
